What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the act of raising funds online from a large number of people for a specific project, cause, or campaign.

How does it work at USAO?

USAO Foundation has partnered with a company called Community Funded to create Drover Impact, which is the Foundation’s official crowdfunding platform. Interested parties may submit an application to use the platform and, after being approved and creating their campaign page, can empower the USAO community to come together to support their cause.

Campaign Champion Questions

Who can start a campaign on Drover Impact?

Any student, faculty or staff member, alumni, parent, or friend of USAO may submit an application to start a campaign on Drover Impact. However, there must be an active University Foundation account in order for the campaign to proceed.

When will I receive the funds I raise?

Funds are typically available within two weeks of the time the campaign closes. This time is the safe estimate for USAO Foundation to process the credit card and for the funds to arrive at the Foundation.

Why can’t I see my completed campaign on droverimact.usao.edu?

USAO Foundation reserves the right to “hide” or make invisible any campaign which has concluded. We reserve this right unconditionally and may, at any time, remove a campaign from any page on droverimpact.usao.edu. If you have already completed your campaign, and it is no longer visible on our page, then we have chosen to exercise our right to “hide” any past campaigns. 

Donor Questions

How do I contribute to a campaign on Drover Impact?

Once you identify the campaign(s) you wish to support, click the “Make a gift” button, and complete the online contribution form, which will charge your credit card in the amount you enter. USAO Foundation accepts all major credit cards.

What is the minimum and maximum gift I can make?

The minimum amount you may give to a single project is $5, but there is no upper limit to what you may give.

When is my credit card charged?

Your credit card is charged immediately upon making the gift.

How is my contact information used? 

Your contact information is required to process your credit card payment. Campaign champions receive your name and email address so they may send you a thank you message for your gift. In addition, USAO Foundation may use your contact information to provide updates on the campaigns to which you have contributed as well as similar or other active campaigns on Drover Impact.

Are contributions returned if a campaign does not reach its fundraising goal?

No, all funds are applied to the stated fundraising purpose. If a campaign becomes impractical or impossible to complete, funds will be used in the spirit of the original purpose of the project. Due to the charitable nature of gifts made to USAO Foundation, which is a tax-exempt institution, refunds are not permitted.

Is my contribution publicly displayed?

Only if you say so. By default, your name is publicly displayed on the pages of campaigns which you have supported. However, you may make an anonymous contribution by selecting that option at the time of your gift.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

All gifts made on Drover Impact are tax-deductible gifts to The USAO Foundation, which is a tax-exempt, charitable institution. The Foundation’s tax ID is 73-1031040.

Will I receive a receipt for my contribution? 

Drover Impact will automatically send a receipt upon finalizing your gift. If you have not received a receipt or require further documentation, please call (405) 574-1320 or email give@usao.edu.

How do I know if the project reaches its goal?

All progress can be monitored through the specific campaign page on Drover Impact. Additionally, campaign champions may provide regular progress reports to donors throughout the campaign and upon completion.
